Requirements

  • BBA in accounting or equivalent
  • CPA/CMA (asset)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar position
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bilingual written and oral (French and English)
  • Expert with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of ERP system

Your challenge

Primary role

Reporting to the senior finance director - Canada, the senior accountant helps coordinate all accounting activities, full accounting cycle, month-end, year-end and budget planning processes. You're responsible for transaction accuracy, resolving problems in your area of expertise and preparing reports for analysis and management in the organization's various sectors. In this role, you'll be involved in optimizing the organization's financial performance, profits and growth, as well as improving reporting reliability, while promoting sound corporate governance.

 

Tasks and responsibilities 

 

  • Help coordinate the financial planning and budgeting process, analyze and adjust forecasts, and develop and implement financial simulation models.
  • Help prepare financial statements, internal reports, summaries, cost analyses and fiscal management reports.
  • Participate in year-end audit planning with external auditors and preparing all financial information.
  • Analyze accounts (results and balance sheet) and prepare management reports for the management team.
  • Prepare month-end entries, including capital assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, payables, etc.
  • Help prepare annual declarations as required by both the provincial and federal government. Prepare and validate monthly GST, QST and HST tax reports (Québec, Canada, US).
  • Reconcile bank accounts, invoices and purchase orders. Check, code and process invoices for payment. Validate and enter invoices with contractual obligations.
  • Validate and ensure accuracy of accounts receivable and payable database information.
  • Review liabilities to ensure reserves are sufficient.
  • Help prepare and manage intercompany accounts.
  • Help develop and implement procedures and systems.
  • Help set up, apply and monitor internal controls in compliance with current accounting laws and regulations, as well as their code of ethics, and integrity and independence requirements.
  • Support the accounting team, i.e. record accounts payable, prepare disbursements, process cash receipts, follow up with internal and external clients, suppliers, etc.
  • Respond to any other requests from the manager or management, and work on special projects as needed.
